Sir,

With reference to a letter signed by Mr. Brown and other residents of Nebo of 22nd ultimo complaining that on a recent occasion this town was left in an unprotected state, in consequence of the ordinary constable stationed there having been placed temporarily in charge of the N M Police Camp, I am directed to inform you that the Constable stationed at Nebo is not to be employed in the same manner again, and that you will be good enough to make some other arrangements for the protection of the N M Police Camp in future during during [sic] the absence of the Officer in Charge.

I have &c. H. H. Massie Under Col Secty

The Commissioner of Police
