Shambean 17th June, 1854

Sir,

I do myself the honor the honor [sic] to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, of date 12th May./54 reminding me that several abstracts for the quarter ending 31st March/54 had been forwarded to me for signature and that I had not, as yet informed you what had become of them.

In reply I beg to inform you that the above mentioned abstracts were duly signed, and forwarded by me to Callandoon as you desired without any unnecessary delay on my part.

You are pleased to observe that Sergt Dempster's statement with regard to Orlando's Horse is incorrect, as I was not present when your orders were given relative to the

the horse, it is impossible for me to know what they were.

In regard to the twenty four horses brought from Brisbane by me which you say I have no right to I can only say, that you not only saw me start with them, but the horses were even drafted by yourself out of the Court House yard at Brisbane so I naturally concluded they were the horses intended by you for the use of the 5th Section

You may always rely upon the horses placed under my command being put to a proper use.

The jackets which Sergt. Dempster packed up by mistake, shall be repacked and forwarded without delay.

I have the honor to be Sir, Your Obdt Servt Edric Morisset Lieut Native Police
