The Honorable
The Col. Secretary

September 18th 65/85

I have the honor to inform you that in
compliance with a requisition duly forwarded
to me, I called a meeting of the Local Magis-
trates on the 15th Instant for the Consideration
of Matters connected with the Police protection
of the Town & District. The following
resolutions were agreed to and passed, and
I was requested to forward them to you by
the first opportunity.

1. That the Magistrates regret that the
Honorable The Colonial Secretary should be
under the impression that any other but a
feeling of the most cordial nature exists
between the Magistrates of this District, as
expressed by him to Mr Henry Palmer
on the occasion of his late visit to Brisbane.

2. That for Some time past the Police Force
has been very inefficient which the bench
mainly attribute to the incompetency of
Sub Inspector Freudenthal who has upon
several occasions been extremely disrespect-
ful to some of the Magistrates of the Said Bench.

3. That for the better protection of the Town
and District it is expedient that a detach-
ment of Native Police should be located
at or near the old Police Barracks on
the Mary River. That they should be placed
under a seperate [sic] and distinct Officer, with
instructions to Keep up a regular Patrol,
[on right] And
