Ald. Carson brought up the petition of John
Lemmon, City Contractor asking the Council to furnish
the Fire Station with fuel and light. Referred to the
Committee on Fire Water and Gas

Ald. Hobart from the Committee on Finance and
accounts brought up a Report (Number 407 Book E)
which was read and adopted

On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Robinson

Ordered, That the City Engineer be instructed
to report what portion of the sum of $5000 voted at the
first meeting of this Council for this year, has been already
spent and where it has been expended

Ald. Gildersleeve from the Committee on Streets
and Improvements brought up a Report (Number 408
Book E.) which was read and adopted.

Ald. Eilbeck from the Committee on Printing
brought up a Report (Number 409 Book E) which was
read and adopted

The Report of the City Engineer was read Re
expenditure on Street Railway track by the City for the
years 1884, 1885 & 1886.

On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Robinson

Ordered, that the City Solicitor be instructed to Collect
from the Street Railway Company the Amounts expended by the City
in repairing the Street Railway track for 1885 & 1886 and also for
1884 if Collectable

On motion of Ald. Hiscock seconded by Ald. I. Wilson

Ordered, That it be referred to the Finance Committee to
see if they are able to provide the sum of Five hundred dollars
for repairing the Break water on King street

Ald. Carson introduced a By Law to amend section five
of the By Law entitled " By Law to appoint Certain officers
of the Fire Department and also a Chimney [?] and Fire
Inspector for the City of Kingston which was read a first time

The 30th Rule was suspended and the Council went
into Committee of the whole on the second reading

Ald. Robinson in the Chair

The Council resumed

The Committee rose, and the Chairman reported the second
reading of the By Law in Committee. The Report was received

The Rule 30 was again suspended and the
By Law was read a third time and passed

On motion the Council adjourned
