From JD Ham Esquire Reeve of Newburgh stating village
about destroyed by fire and asking if City can help them
On motion of Alderman Gildersleeve seconded by Alderman Thompson.
Ordered, that the Finance Committee be requested to provide
the sum of two hundred dollars for the relief of the sufferers.
at the recent fire in the village of Newburgh.
From Britton and Whiting on behalf of the Folger Brothers. Re-
state of foot of Brock Street. Referred to Streets
Committee.

From Walkem and Walkem on behalf of Mrs. Corrigan
asking that a bylaw be passed at once for closing a part of James
Street. Referred to the Committee for Streets.

From George Richardson and 5 others asking for a
water service along Gorden Street. Referred to the Select Committee
on Public Works.

From Governor General conveying to the citizens of Kingston
the Queens appreciation of the loyal sentiments contained in
their address of congratulations to Her Majesty.

From JM Campbell Secy Kingston Electric Light Company
stating they will be able on and after the first day of October
promise to carry out contract for lighting streets of city by electricity.
On motion of Alderman McIntyre seconded by Alderman Harty.

Ordered, that the resolution passed at the meeting of
this Council on the 22nd day of August last in regard to the
proposed purchase of the plant of the Electric Light Company be
reconsidered.
On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Muckleston

Ordered, that the resolution passed at the meeting of this
Council on the 22nd day of August last in regard to the purchase
of the Electric Light Company plant to be rescinded except that portion
of same directing a year's notice to be given and this Council
hereby affirms the said notice which has already been given.

Ald. Thompson brought up the petition of Thomas Hanley
and 13 others asking that the sidewalk about to be placed on Earl
Street be laid down outside the line of trees and the boulevard on the
inside. Referrede to the Committee on Streets.

Ald. Swift brought up the petition of John Walsh asking
for a pool table license. Referred to the Committee on Licenses.

Ald. Gildersleeve from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up a Report (Number 478 Book F) which was
read and adopted.
