Alderman W. Robinson brought up the petition of E. F.
Chapman calling for the privilege of lighting the coal oil
lamp in front of his premises. Agreeing to keep it in good
repairs and light it at his expense. Referred to the Committee
on Fire Water and Gas.

On motion of Alderman Gildersleeve seconded by Alderman Redden
Ordered, that the Committee on Water Works report all
accounts for payment except salaries, that all payments
be made out of moneys at the credit of the Water Works
Department by cheque to be signed by the manager of the
Water Works and countersigned by the Mayor.

Alderman Shannon brought up the petition of T.F. Allen
and 7 others asking for a drain along Stuart Street from the
corner of Gordon Street. Referred to the Committee on Streets.

A communication from R.K. Row President K.T.A.
was read stating that the municipal grant of $50 is now due to
the City Teachers' Association. Referred to the Committee on
Finance and Accounts.

A communication from W.H. Irwin & Co. Publishers
regarding the Council to patronise their Kingston Directory.
Referred to the Mayor.

Alderman Muckleston from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up a report (Number 482 Book F) which
was read and adopted.

On motion of Alderman Thompson seconded by Alderman Harty
Ordered, that the Finance Committee by requested
to provide funds to the extent of five thousand dollars for
extra expenditures on drains during the current year. The
amount to be charged against the street expenditure for 1888.
