"The Salary attached to the office of Principal by a Resolution of the Board of Trustees is four Hundred Pounds per annum. The Salary of a Professor, in terms of the same Resolution is Three Hundred Pounds per annum. All salaries have been regularly paid from year to year."
"As the Sessions of Queen's College commence on the first Wednesday in October and terminate on the last Thursday in April there is no attendance on the Classes in July.
On the 1st day of Jany 1848 the number of matriculated Students in attendance was Twenty-three
On the first day of January 1849 the number was Thirty.
On the first day of January 1850 the number was Thirty-five.
On the first day of January 1851 the number was Forty-One.
The Trustees have, at a considerable outlay, established a Preparatory, at which Eighty four in all have recieved education during the Past year and Sixty two were in actual attendance on the first of July inst.

"The School is open during the whole year except during a vacation of Six weeks, commencing in the beginning of July."
"The Fees for each Class attending the College are two pounds per Session. Many of the Students attend four Classes, and none of them less than three. At entrance in each year each Student also pays a Matriculation Fee of One pound."
"There is a Boarding House established in connection with the College, under the supervision of the Professors, and managed by a Committee of Trustees, at which Students are furnished with Board and Lodging at about one pound fifteen Shillings per Month."
"I beg to add three notes of explanation," 1st. I have used the words "the Salary attached to the office of Principal is £ 400, "this being in terms of a Resolution of the Board of Trustees, but holding, a I do, an office in the Church, and wishing to render every service in my power to an inadequately endowed Institution, I have accepted, during my

imcumbency only a small part of such Salary.
2nd. The Theological Department has been hitherto supported entirely by a Grant, at pleasure, from the Colonial Committee of the Church of Scotland.
3rd. The Trustees have it in contemplation to appoint at the earliest period possible, a Professor of Logic and Moral Philosophy, the labor of a Professor in this Department having now become indispensable in consequence of the increasing number of Students.
I am farther requested by the Board of Trustees to state that while the Board have readily given the information now submitted for the information of His Excellency and the Legislature Assembly, it will be seen for their Charter, a copy of which is herewith transmitted, that it is not obligatory on them to furnish such information.

On the 11th August the secretary was instructed to notify the distant members of the Board the appointed times of the meeting of the Trustees, and more especially of the meeting to be held on the 1st Wednesday of October following, which, coinciding with the time of the meeting of the Commission of Synod in Kingston, they suggested as a convenient opportunity for holding a full meeting of the Board to take into consideration matters of special importance to the well being of the Institution, among other matters the propriety of increasing the Staff of Professors with all convenient speed.
