Many thanks for your letter. It was a great pleasure to see you again. Your honest old face will always be welcome in these chambers whenever you can spare time to come south. I will try to get you a ticket for Rosebery from Haldane or Asquith.

We have just had an

appalling time of fog. I was speaking at a meeting at Guildford on Saturday, & took 3¾ hours to travel the 25 miles.

I spent Sunday rushing about a frostbound country with the great Harmsworth in a magnificent motor-car. I felt like a Jew who had

made a fortune in brothels, but I enjoyed the sensation.

I am looking forward to seeing you in Edinburgh in January.
