My dear old Nan
This must be a very hurried note as I have an awful lot to do today. I got back this morning after a delightful week end. Except on Sunday the weather was perfect & we walked the hills. Hangingshaw is a lovely place, with beautiful old-fashioned gardens, & Richard was very kind. Sandy

I quite agree with you about the necessity of a house in August to which that old obstructionist, my mother, must be removed by force. Was her last illness not a lesson to her that she still goes on "neglecting the tabernacle". St Abb's Head will do very well: it would be very convenient for me. Will you try & get a house & I will pay all expenses.

I am very sorry about my father. What on earth is wrong with him? I hope both he & Mother will soon be better. I will write to Mrs Walker when I get a moment to myself.
Now be sure and arrange about the house. I expect a strong sea-side place would be the best holiday you could all have. There is no chance whatever of my being able to take you to the Continent in July. We must
