My dear old Nan

I was very glad to get Mother's kind letter yesterday. You wll be very quiet without Willie. I am glad that the Mhor's intellect is being recognised. I am afraid I have no news, except that Hamilton has at last received silk i.e. become a Q.C., & to-morrow I go to Rowlatt's chambers. I am doing a great deal of law just now, for

With love to all

Your affectionate brother

John
