My dearest old Mother
I am so sorry you have been worried by my health, when you have so much to do. I am quite restored to health again. I saw the Doctor again on Friday, and he gave me another thorough examination. He said that the catarrh was quite gone, and that I was quite fit again. I questioned him particularly about my

lungs & he said that they were magnificent, likewise my heart, & that he would return me to any insurance company as an absolute first-class life. So I hope you are satisfied. Brighton has made me extremely well, for it is glorious weather & I had a long walk on the Downs. So, my dear old Mother, you must dismiss me from your

mind. I have never been better in my life.
I have to come to Edinburgh on business the week-end after next & if you are to be in Peebles then I will motor through on the Sunday & see you. I have been living in a collection of crises lately about which I should like to talk to you. It would take too long to explain: but don't be anxious - they are quite beneficent crises.
I want to know about your

own health. Please tell me when you next write. I don't think I shall find time to write every day, but I shall try to write thrice a week. I will write to Dewar myself. I am more sorry about him than I can say
Much love to all
Your affectionate son
John
