My dearest wee Mother
My best wishes to you all for a happy & prosperous New Year. We are greatly looking forward to your being with us on the 10th. Susie says she will be delighted to see you supposing you have no hair at all. Many thanks to Nan for her kind letter yesterday. Tell her I think Mrs Grosvenor would be immensely touched & pleased if she sent her a copy of the Memoir, & that I think, if she has any to spare, the Munroes should have one. I return the letter she sent me which was

very interesting.
To day is a bright sunny day, but bitterly cold. Yesterday Susie & I drove round Arundel Park in company with a funny little German Jewess. It is a most noble park & the castle (the Duke of Norfolk's) is like something out of a fairy tale. Tell Nan never to mind about the cost of the cushion.
Alice & John are well & John is losing his cold. Susie as well seems a good deal benefited by the place. It has been a pleasant peaceful time.
Much love to all
Your affectionate son
John
We go back to London on Saturday
