My dearest wee Mother
Susie & I were very much touched by your letter last night. I am so glad you look back with pleasure to your visit here. We certainly miss you greatly. I am glad you are well. Nan arrives to morrow, but so far Susie has been unable to get hold of her for luncheon, as she seems to be very much engaged. Susie will remember to ask Isobel Henderson to some meal.

We are in the thick of elections here. I expect Charlie Masterman [ST - CFG Masterman] will go out, & we may possibly win Poplar, & the papers say we have a chance in Leith Burghs, which I personally doubt.
The children are very well & good, & never stop speaking about you. Ronald Macdonald has just been in on his way to the Riviera. It is a beastly cold day after the fine weather of last week.
Much love to all
Your affectionate son
John
