I have been intending for a
good many weeks to write and thank
you for your excellent Life of Montrose,
and to tell you how much I enjoyed
your most brilliant and interesting
accounts of the battles, and how warm-
ly I appreciate in the last chapter
the summing up of Montrose's character.
