My dearest wee Mother

This is a disgusting day of even-down rain & so was yesterday, & Saturday. Nan & I went to St Columba's yesterday, & I took up the offertory. Little Tony Ballantyne (son of the owner of Caerlee) came to luncheon - a very nice well-mannered little boy. I took him & Alice to the Zoo & he stayed to tea & departed loaded with chocolates & 'Prester John.' I think he enjoyed himself.

looks very tired, poor lady. She has let her house, & is leaving for Canada at the end of April. Susie & I are dining with Francis Balfour to night. I hate leaving Nan, but it is an old engagement. Nan looks very well. She is spending the afternoon with Maud & Jennie Macfie

You seem to be a very thrang wee lady [ST: thrang ie. busy]. I am sorry about the Mhor's eyes, poor chap.
