It was interesting to see the gun team which had taken up this gun for the great move, & the congestion of ammunition going up. I had more of the details of what is proposed in that part of the line.
Late last night Hell broke loose along the line. Though I was 30 miles away I was awakened this morning at 4 by the great guns. It is now 7 & I am off to try to get as near as possible to the line. I wish I were in a place where a bird's-eye view could be got. The wind is steady West, quite all right, but the rain is a nuisance, as it spoils the deadline of a bombardment. The whole army is waiting on the leash.
I hope to fix my day of coming home by Monday. It will be Thursday, I think
Much love to all
