I have just got back from the Front. We could see nothing through the terrific bombardment. We are doing splendidly and the late news is that we have an [alm? ?.] [scored out in grey pencil]. The French in Champagne seem fairly to have swept the board. The Hun is at last being firmly handled. Everybody's face at G.H.Q. wears a broad grin.

I saw Francis Grenfell's grave yesterday. It was covered with fresh red roses. I wonder who sent them. He is buried side by side with Billy Grenfell.
