This must be Geoffrey Robinson, editor of The Times who, confusingly, changed his name to Dawson in 1917, and it is by that name that he is normally known. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffrey_Dawson
It is not surprising that JB says he likes Robinson, since they worked for Milner in S.A. at the same time, and Robinson engaged JB as a war correspondent in 1915.
