My dearest little Susie

This is a most romantic place. I have just had luncheon in a little inn with a courtyard in an old French walled town on the top of a hill. And I breakfasted in Portland Place!

I came over with Belloc. He had taken the Sacrament at dawn in case he was blown up & was much annoyed that it was all for nothing. A boy came up with a letter & asked him if he were Sir Charles Henry, "I am not," said Belloc, "and for your information I tell you that the man's real name is Solomon!" We had a pleasant evening. H.B. is on his way to Italy.

You must not expect to hear from me as I shall be

moving about a great deal. I hope to be home before Sunday, but we shall see what we shall see. A week at the outside is the length of my leave from the FO.
