My own little darling
To day is a slightly better day. I had an uncomfortable morning yesterday, but picked up in the afternoon. I took Newton down the line & finally to see Cavan, where the P of W. [ST - Prince of Wales] supplied me with milk & stale brioches [underlined]. I had a good night. I am living strictly on diet, chiefly on the food you sent me, and am determined to get quite fit very soon. I am taking a quiet day today, & not going out at all except for a walk in the afternoon.

I think I left on my dressing-table in the spare room.
I saw Tom Brand (Hampden) yesterday & Hugh Warrender, and a lot of other people. The best man I have struck for a long time is a midget from Dundee who has commanded two tanks, and speaks the raciest idiom.
I do hope you are quite well again, little one, & all the blessings are in their usual robust health. Newton is enjoying himself greatly. I am really mending fast. The visit here seems to have interrupted my convalescence, & no wonder considering the weather & the rush.
Much love to all Your ever devoted
