My dearest Susie
I got here safely after a wonderful motor ride through beautiful Autumn country. Picardy is certainly a lovely place, and I am not at all certain the Dreams will not have to be here. We had a very smooth crossing and a quick one. I have got a queer little billet in a funny little French house with a nice old Madame who apologises profusely for the roughness of the linen. I have not had much talk yet with the General. I saw Sidney Clive, (Mrs Buxton's son in law), just up from Chantilly the French. It has been a day of great victories, as you will see in the paper to-morrow
