[ST: Lady Drummond from Montreal wished the Canadian soldiers to be nursed in British hospitals not segregated in Canadian ones]

Advd. GHQ BA in France

Oct: 22: 16

My own little darling

I was very glad to get your letter this morning. About Lady Drummond I think L.G is almost the only person who could really help her. The best plan would be to get at Sir Hugh Arthur Lee. I will send a line of introduction to him, or better still, get Fred Oliver, who is his greatest friend to speak to him. It might be worth while also consulting Strachey, who has ways of access to Squiff which the world knoweth not, & who is sure to be keen about a point like this.

I am so sorry you had a bad day owing to the bad behaviour of my letters. I wish I could hear Mr John sing. Billy must be getting a fine chap.

Will you send me the fur coat (the one you gave me last year).

It would do very well to wear under my British warm. And you might pack up in the same parcel, please, my cigar case made out of Willie's crocodile skin. I have started to smoke cigars, which is a sure proof that I am in robust health.

Yesterday afternoon I had to go round the Armies. It was glorious sharp weather & coming home there was a wonderful sunset. As you will have seen we had a very good day yesterday & did all we wanted. I came home by Amiens and had chocolate in my favourite patisserie.

How are Gerald & Marnie? AJB. goes back to-day. My best love to the Blessings & your precious self

Your ever devoted

John
