My wife was enormously pleased with Mrs Edgar's letter
UNION CLUB TRAFALGAR SQUARE, S.W.

My dear old John [Edgar]
Your kind letter and the one from your wife reached us in in Venice when we were in the midst of our honeymoon. I do hope that your healthy is pretty well now. We had a great continental trek - first to a little inn in N. Tyrol, then to the Dolomites (where Susie was made to climb snow

mountains & acquitted herself very well), - then to Venice. We have had Tommy Nelson's big Edinburgh house, St Leonards, for September & our first experience of housekeeping has been very pleasant. We have been for week-ends to Achnacloich, Ardtornish & Ardwall. At Ardwall there was a great gathering of the godly, including Peter Wright, & the old

Judge was in the best form. We come back to London early in October & must set about looking for a house.
I expect you have heard of the epidemic of marriage that has broken out, following the example of Raymond [Asquith] & me. Hugh Wyndham is going to marry Maud Lyttelton in the spring, & Old Rait is going to espouse John Bridge's sister [Ruth]. Only Johnnie and Sandy keep the flag flying now. I am up

in London for a day on business and have had an awesome time running about. I am now so sleepy that I expect I shall have to be lifted out of my cab at Euston & carried to the train.
Anna is going to India next month for the winter. Write soon about your health, old man, & your plans. I hope we shall see you back next year.
With kindest regards to your wife
Yours ever
John Buchan
