Many thanks for your kind letter this morning. It was good of you to find time to write on such a busy day. I am glad the Special Services went off well. Tell Father I have got his

review & will decipher it at once.

This is a beautiful day. I am glad you are having the same weather in Scotland. I found Susie much better & up when I came home last night, and this morning she is quite well. I am afraid I have found an old

man of the sea in the shape of Lady Welby, whom we went to see on Saturday. This morning's post brought a long letter on abstruse philosophical questions which I still have to answer.

This is a quiet week for us with very little dining out. Mrs Grosvenor has got to go to the police

court to give evidence in a motor accident case. I am going to lunch to day with Lady Malmesbury. I knew her husband & she wants to meet me.

Don't do too much work, old mother. You mustn't be ill when Anna comes home.
