My dearest wee mother
There is no letter from Nan to-day, but I am hoping that you got to Glasgow without feeling too tired. I expect to hear to-morrow morning what Napier [ST: doctor] said. I have no doubt he will be pleased with you, & I hope you will come to Peebles at once again & complete your cure. You have some distance to go yet before you get back your full health.
I meant to tell you yesterday that I wrote to Miss Maclean thanking her for all her kindness, & telling her to tell her young friend to write to Sandy Gillon at the Scottish Office. I have

trysted with Sandy, who knows all about these things, & given him full information.
It is cold East-windy weather now. I hope it is warmer with you. We are in a tremendous habble getting ready to go. How I hate starting when it comes to the bite! I shall be very sorry to see the wee Lady depart to-morrow night. Mrs Grosvenor & Marnie are coming back to night. The Ian Nelsons dined with us last night & we had a pleasant evening.
Much love, my dearest little mother.
Your affectionate son
John
