My dearest wee body
I got your kind letter when I came home last night. Never think another thought about my cough. It is quite gone, & I am very well indeed. You know, Mother, I don't speak about dear Father in my letters only because I have nothing worthy to say. The beloved man is always in my

memory, and I am being reminded of him every hour. Will you send me the MSS. when you are finished with it, and I will take steps about publication. I see from the Peebleshire [underlined] that Maclean wrote a nice reference to Father at the Liberal Committee meeting. The wee paper says Maclean is going to have meetings in Selkirkshire at the end of January, so he & I will be tumbling over

each other.
Willie's letter this morning is very sad. The poor fellow says it is an eery job getting home letters, for they are still quite cheerful. I am very sorry for the lonely laddie.
To day is a grey cold day. I do hope Nan's visit to Glasgow will have done her some good. I am very anxious about her health.
Susie is going on very well and Prester John is good & healthy. I registered him

to-day.
I enclose a letter from Charlie Murray. Mrs Grosvenor is in bed, but getting better. I do hope you yourself are not feeling too wretched in body. I have got your [theban? beads?], & another present I hope you will like.
Much love, my dearest wee body
Your affectionate son
John
