BORDLANDS, WEST LINTON, PEEBLESSHIRE.
My dear Buchan
A thousand thanks for your very handsome volume (it makes amends for your first story in "The Moon Endureth") I appreciate very much your kindness in presenting it its sentiments are much in accordance with mine. You may find my opinion of Montrose in some verses in the little book I published many years ago. My daughter Helen was sorry not to have met you at Philiphaugh she left a day or so before you were to arrive. I had a good day yesterday on Whiteside 6 brace of partridge, 2 brace grouse a brace and ½ of black game (cocks) and some rabbits. With very kind regards to your wife and renewed thanks
I am
Yours very truly
