My dear Buchan
I feel an awful beast for not having written before to thank
you for "Montrose" but what with giving over one command
on one day and taking over another on the next and
then going to manoeuvres immediately I have not had time to
call my soul my own. Thank you so much for it.
He was a great man and I expect it is a great
book. Raleigh was! I am just beginning it and
know I shall enjoy it. We have not got a house
yet but Mary is hard at work and we hope to
get settled soon. We are living in rooms at
