It was very kind of you to send me a copy of your "Andrew Jameson". I read it last night with much pleasure and if you will allow me to say so I think you have done your work with the greatest sympathy,

sincerity and skill. Some may think you have shown even too much discretion, but of course you alone know the conditions under which you were writing, and I have no doubt you exercised a wise judgment in the matter.
