My dearest wee Mother

Yesterday was a dull close day, but to-day it is bright again & cooler. I had Haldane to dine last night to meet an American Professor of Philosophy & we had an interesting talk. I hope to get down to

Kent by the late train this evening. Mrs Grosvenor is also coming down. On Monday evening, when I am put off, I am going to see David Beatty, but I hope to be back by Wednesday morning.

I haven't heard from Susie this morning.

I have very little news.

I hope the P.M. will be back by Monday. I enclose a cheque for £1050..11..1, which you might give to Walter to pay into my account

Nan will soon be getting slip proofs of her book. I shall read them carefully & make my suggested emendations on one set before sending them on to her.

Tell Nan I am quite serious about her doing the Scots anthology.

I do hope your health is a little better.
