My dearest wee Mother

I think the rain is on its way at last. We had a shower last night, and I am beginning to cut my hay to-day, which is certain to break the

weather.

According to my new medical instructions, I am staying down to-day, and going for a long walk. I had a busy day yesterday. I lunched with Henry Newbolt, & saw Milner in the afternoon. I dressed at the Hartley['s - ST], & Susie

& I dined with Clement Webb, one of the Theology professors. They have a beautiful little house on the Cherwell next to Magdalen.

If all goes well, I will be at Peebles by 6 pm on Wednesday. I suppose the early train to Glasgow will be the only

one.

We are all very well, including me. Alice has become a devotee of tennis. Mr John has at last vouchsafed a postcard.
