My dear John,

Thanks very much for one of the kindest letters I ever received. It is a great grief to me to part from you as a partner in a business for which we both have a great affection. I am so glad that you can look back on our association with pleasure. For me it will be one of my happiest memories. Perhaps we may someday have other business associations. Who can tell? I hope so.

You are always very understanding. I am sure that you realize how great my love for the business is and that if I can help you or it at any time you have only to ask me. It was my own suggestion that I should leave it and I have never regretted making that suggestion. The only thing I regret is the miserable fuss and worry during the last year & I am going to forget that as soon as possible.

Thanks for your kind offer to help me in finding other work. You may be assured that if you can be of assistance
