My dearest wee Mother

Yesterday was a beautiful day after the rain. I went to Mentmore [ST: Lord Rosebery's house], & found my old friend much stronger

and cheerier than I have seen him for a long time. Ruth, Neil's little girl, was there. Susie was dropped at Aylesbury & went by train to see Marnie. [ST: my sister Mrs Peyton Jones]

Mr John went off

all day to fish with the keeper in the Cherwell. He caught 2 perch & can talk about nothing else.

This will be my last day in London for some time. I am lunching with John Jameson & Sir R. Horne.

We are all exceedingly well. I do hope we shall find you & Nan well on Tuesday. It is pure autumn weather here.
