I shall go back to-morrow - I am not certain just when. The boats are not fixed till to night, & it is just conceivable that they may not go. But I will wire to-morrow morning to the F.O.

here. It is a quieter little place [ST: Duissens near Doullens] now that the tide of battle has gone north. Haldane has put up a substantial oak cross, & I arranged with a Jock to plant a box border & put in some geraniums.

The rest of the day I spent at G.HQ. This chateau is 12th Century! with a portcullis & drawbridge. It is exceedingly
