I got safely back yesterday afternoon in time for my conference at Downing St. The channel crossing was pretty wild. I have come to the conclusion that I practically cannot be seasick, which is just as well. I found a letter from you awaiting me & one in the morning. I can get as many photos of Alastair's grave as you please. Shall I

tell our photographer to take some more? That photo from Stevenson was not Alastair - of that I am positive. It wasn't the least like him & it was not the kind of collar he wore. Tell Nan to let me see the sketch of Alastair in proof. I fear I have not got the time & place of his wound settled yet, so we will have to hedge a little. I will try

I have not got your birthday present yet. It will be at Printstyles. Many many thanks for remembering me. I fear I won't get down to Kent till to-morrow afternoon.

It is still the same awesome weather. It is really a bad business this storm coming now for it will

spoil what would otherwise have been a good harvest. Susie writes that the children are very well. I was very tired last night, but I had a sound sleep & am very well this morning.
