My dearest wee Mother

I left Kent this morning in lovely weather - very unwillingly, as usual. I had 2½ days with the children, which was good for me. They & Susie are all very well. We had violent showers on Sunday & I had to mount the roof to clean out the gutters, for the rain

was coming in. Yesterday was hot & thundery, & to-day is a perfect autumn day with a misty morning.

I enclose Hodder Williams' letter. I think he wants a spare copy of the MS. to place in America. I daresay "The Setons" is the best title. [ST: It was published under the title of The Setons]

I am very well. I hope Broughton is nice & peaceful

Much love

Your [illegible]

John
