My dearest wee Mother

Just a scribble. I got back at mid-day to-day to find awful arrears of work. The children have just come up from the country. Billy Fish has acquired a bad cold. I don't like them

being in London when air raids are on, but it would be cowardice, I think, to send them away, when so many people have got to keep their children here.

Susie & I had a delightful holiday & I am sorry it is over.

We were wonderfully favoured in the way of weather.

I was so glad to get Nan's kind letter & to hear that she found you fairly well.
