My dearest wee Mother

We are having cold fine weather, but we had no raid last night. Perhaps the wind was too high. We have still a week of bright moonlight, & shall no doubt have our visitations.

It is a bad business about the

German attack on Italy. I hope the Italians will be able to stick it, but they may be hard-pressed.

We are all very well. Susie took the chair at a meeting yesterday afternoon, & got back very late. I saw a letter from the Grand Duchess Olga, saying that she & her sisters &

Papa had been greatly cheered & comforted in their exile by "Greenmantle". It is an odd fate for me to cheer the princess of the Tsar.

Billy is becoming a desperately fierce little boy. He has the energy of 60 h.p. Rolls Royce. Mr John, since he began lessons, is

very reflective.

I have very little news to-day. To-morrow is communion at St Columba's
