Susie has written to Nan about Maud. Apparently the length of her stay in the home is doubtful. There doesn't seem to be any likelihood of an operation, though the Doctor talks of my one. She must have been

pretty bad, poor thing. Susie says the Home is exceedingly comfortable. She will go & see her every day. Nan must use her own judgment about coming up. It doesn't seem to be absolutely necessary, but we should be only too delighted to see her at any time.

It is a raw morning, but it looks as if it would clear up. Our action on the Western Front yesterday was very successful. I have to go to the American Club to-night to an American dinner. We go down to Cliveden for Saturday night for me to speak to the Canadian soldiers, but we come up on the Sunday evening. I wish I hadn't to go
