pretty bad, poor thing. Susie says the Home is exceedingly comfortable. She will go & see her every day. Nan must use her own judgment about coming up. It doesn't seem to be absolutely necessary, but we should be only too delighted to see her at any time.

It is a raw morning, but it looks as if it would clear up. Our action on the Western Front yesterday was very successful. I have to go to the American Club to-night to an American dinner. We go down to Cliveden for Saturday night for me to speak to the Canadian soldiers, but we come up on the Sunday evening. I wish I hadn't to go

to Paris next week, for it only means awful arrears of work when I get back.

The children are all well. Nanny goes off to-day for a short holiday. It was hard work inducing her to go.
