the P.M. on the question of journalistic interference in my department. I don't know yet if Carson will support me, for it is not very easy for him to grasp the precise impossibility [ST: 'impossibilities?'] of the P.M.'s proposals. Anyhow I intend to stand fast & shall resign if they attempt to interfere with me.

The Zepps on Friday again made a big hole in Piccadilly but only broke glass in the houses. They seem to have got their kail through the reek [ST: (Scottish expression)] on their return through France.

The children are very well & funny. I have got a fearsome cold, as a result of my visit to France.
