My dearest wee Mother

This is a cold bright day. I had one of your eggs for breakfast this morning & it was magnificent. Susie & the children are very well. Billie has got a habit of saying

"Good gwacious", which is very comic.

I had a long hustled day yesterday. I saw Carson twice & had a long talk with Milner. I have resolved to pocket my pride in the public interest, & not to resign, though there is no knowing

when that day may come.

Tom [Henderson/Hardman?] came to see me yesterday. He has given up being a special constable. I thought him looking very well. The Savory boy seems to have got into trouble.

Susie wants me to say that she has got all your parcels, & is

writing to you to-day.

Yesterday the King & Queen came to our American Officers' Club. The visit was a great success.
