My dearest wee Mother
We are having cold dry weather. I had a very busy day yesterday making up arrears after my absence. Beaverbrook is still sick. Harold Baker has got flu, & so has half the office. I hope you won't have it in Peebles, for it is a nasty kind. Mrs [?] is better, I am glad to say. Milner is coming to dine tonight to meet two Americans.
Susie & Alastair are very well. Billy is

truculent, and slightly resentful of Nanny's attention to Alastair. Isn't the news wonderful? My work now is almost confined to peace terms. I thought Wilson's reply very good.
The children are always wanting to know when you are coming here. You will come, please, won't you? We long to have you. I hope Nan is quite well now & that you are fairly well.
Much love, wee body
