76, PORTLAND PLACE, W.1.

Nov: 25: 18

My dearest wee Mother

It was tremendously kind of you to send the 10/ and the letter to Mr John. And Nan sent presents not only for him but for the others, so they are all very happy. The old man is fairly snowed under with gifts this morning. I do wish you saw more of the children, but now that the war is over that can soon be remedied. I was very glad to hear you are going back to Peebles. I am so sorry for Aunt Aggy. It is disgusting that Gala Lodge should be put up to public auction. I wish the devil would fly away with Dan Tudhope.

I enclose a letter from Violet Jacob which you might give to Nan, as it refers to the "Setons".

The War Cabinet is giving me a bad time. They sent for me late on Friday & wanted me to go at once to Paris. I said I couldn't wind up the Ministry & do odd jobs. But I was kept very busy by them on Saturday, & retired to bed for the week-end. I am quite well, but I want a rest badly.

Much love, wee body

[illegible]

John
