My dearest wee Mother

Alice was very glad to get Nan's kind letter this morning. The children are all mending, though still confined to the nursery. Billy's temp. has gone & he is very cross. Alice & Mr John still bark. Only Alastair is perfectly well. The weather is perishing cold & we are still minus servants. Susie has got a sort of chill inside, but is keeping on her feet. I am very well myself.

I was glad to see that the 'Peeblesshire' had the missing pages in my speech. Will you remind Walter to send me the two photographs. The tubes are running again as usual here, but there

is a general belief that we shall soon have another strike. A good deal depends on the P.M's speech this afternoon. It is a bonny world, my masters!

I do hope you are keeping well & resting my wee body. We have the happiest recollections of last week; you were far too kind to us. This weather must be jolly in Peeblesshire. Here it is a little too much.
