My dearest wee Mother

We were very glad to get Nan's kind letter this morning. This is a beastly time but it is all anybody else is having. This morning Billy is much better, & Mr John is probably all right. But poor little Alice, whom we thought cured, awoke with a temp. of 104. The doctor is not alarmed, as there is no hint of pneumonia at present. She is quite comatose, which is the usual procedure in this brand of flu, & we hope she will sleep it off. Susie & I are just keeping our legs and no more. It affects us stomachically, which is

a very common type, but we have no temp. I am so sorry for Susie having to worry about servants when she has so much on her hands. Your letter yesterday cheered me a great deal.

Many thanks for the Freedom casket which arrived safely. I shall be glad of copies of the two photos. It is still bitterly cold, but a thaw is predicted. Labour troubles don't seem to get easier.

Much love to all

[illegible]

John
