When do you return to Peebles, or have you taken root in Edinburgh? I see that the Assemblies have taken a big step towards union. Did you see

Haig? Last night I dined at the Club & had pleasant talk with Admiral Sturdee & Lord Stamfordham. Then I picked up Susie at her mother's house & brought her home.

In the evening Hawker's procession came down Portland Place from the

Station. The children all watched it in dressing-gowns from the balcony & were very excited. Susie started to explain to Billy that it was a wonderful man who had flown over the sea. Billy said impatiently: "Oh, I know. It's Mr Hawker."

I am quite well & pretty busy getting things done before the end of June.

I do hope Edinburgh has been a pleasure to you & a real rest. Will you let me know if the 18th will be all right for the little boys to come north. ?
