My dear Mr: Buchan, I do long for words with which to thank you enough - it came on Friday a.m. & I have pored over the beautiful chapters on Bron [ST: These for Remembrance] & Raymond & Lord Basil - & have also now read the ones on "Tommy Nelson" & "Jack Wortley", & alas have only one more to come - it is almost impossible to express the sense of perfection that

I feel in reading the accounts of those I knew - all the subtleties & charms that would have seemed impossible to convey seem to be there before one - Ld: Basil, how difficult to give the sense of him, & yet you have done it, just

as beautifully as you have called up Bron, & Raymond. I go on re-reading the pages, with fresh & fresh admiration & delight -

Thank you most deeply. Probably you will have to bear with another letter from me about the book - the impression

of it is so intensely strong, & only comes slowly into detailed realization. I loved so the sentence about Julian. -
