My dearest wee Mother
Still the same hot dry weather. It is getting very serious for the country. Susie's thumb is quite all right again. We went down to Oxford on Saturday & spent the day looking at houses & seeing the Fuel Controller.

I think we have got a suitable house. Yesterday we took John down to Moor Park [ST: in Hertfordshire]. It is being sold & it was his last chance of seeing Susie's old house. It was looking perfectly lovely, but the great kind of house is no use to anybody but major profiteers.

Nannie is back looking very brown & well. She is delighted at the nursemaid you have got. To-morrow Alice goes down to Bankton & the little boys leave at 9.25 on Wednesday night.
