UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA.
UNIE VAN ZUID-AFRIKA.
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE.
DEPARTEMENT VAN VERDEDIGING.
Cape Town.
23rd March, 1920.
Dear Colonel Buchan,
I send you my most hearty thanks
for your courtesy in forwarding me a copy of your
book "The South African Forces in France."
I have not yet had time to read
it through, but a skimming of the pages has whetted
my inclination to get down to it.
I cannot omit to thank you for
having so generously given, not only your time and
leisure, but also your gifted pen to place on record
the heroic deeds of our South African lads in Flanders.
I am looking forward with great
relish to reading of brave deeds brilliantly chronicled,
as a relaxation during a Session which will most pro-
bably be a most strenuous one.
Yours sincerely,
[ S ?]

Colonel Buchan,
Elsfield Manor,
Oxford,
England.
