Dear John. I am touched & grateful beyond words at you sending me the "Twins" book. It is to me the most moving & poignant uplifting of all the biographies that have been written, & has landed me in a pool of tears 2 or 3 times. There's something about that blend of innocence & gallantry, & love between the brothers that just touches me in some vital spot, &

just can't bear it & begin to howl like a dog. The sidelights on "the uncle" too are delightful. As to your rendering of the whole thing it is done with perfect taste & feeling, & restraint & humour. I rather wish one or two letters to Hilda had been there, wh. I remembered, & which wd. have been a tribute to her unfailingness to them all from start to finish. I hear Arthur is expected this Sunday, & Hilda
